Best Questions to Ask Visitors at Your Trade Show Booth
Use a short question that starts a useful conversation.
The best booth question is short, relevant, and easy to answer. It helps the visitor talk about their work instead of forcing them through a sales script.
Start with the problem
Questions such as “How are you handling this today?” or “What brought you to this part of the show?” can reveal the reason someone stopped. A better question is often specific to the client: “Are you managing this for one location or several?” The answer should help your team decide who to introduce.
Avoid the badge-scan interrogation
Do not stack five qualifying questions before offering a conversation. Ask one, listen, and follow naturally. If the person is not a fit, be helpful and let them move on. If they are, make a warm handoff with the context you just learned.
Agree on the wording before the show
Have sales and marketing approve the question. Test it aloud. If it sounds awkward, simplify it. The person drawing attention does not need to know every technical detail; the specialist at the booth handles those questions.
Write down the answer and the next step before scanning a badge. That small habit makes follow-up much more personal.
